The Math Teacher…

My son, Joseph, had a huge test a couple of weeks ago. In his words, “Mom, it will be a doozie.”

He had studied for weeks. Long days and long nights of studying.

I can just imagine a little light on in his apartment late into the night, soaking in information and trying hard to absorb the massive amount of details that would be covered on this test.

He had asked me and Lem several times over those weeks to pray for him, specifically that he would do well on the test.

We of course, obliged.

Joseph knows first hand the power of prayer. He has seen prayers, miraculous prayers answered, that have just blown him away.

The day finally came for his test.

He had stayed up all night studying, only getting 3 hours of sleep.

He told us that he was so anxious about the test that he couldn’t sleep. Which, in turn made him more anxious because he knew he needed sleep!

After the test was over, he called me.

“Mom, that was one of the hardest tests I have ever taken. I am not sure I did well.”

He continued on…

“I only got 3 hours of sleep last night. But, Mom, I remembered something this morning as I was headed out to take the test. I remembered the prayer you always pray over me…. you know the one you pray about asking God to triple my efforts in all I do. So, I realized I had actually gotten 9 hours of sleep instead of 3. I felt better after I realized that!”

You can imagine my response…I almost fell into a heap of tears on the floor as I held the phone in my hands.

He had remembered those prayers covering so many years. Those same prayers I prayed, over and over and over again over him.

He had clung to those words, and not just clung to them, but believed them.

At that moment, I realized the power of our words. Not just the power of our words, but the power of our words through prayer.

I had spoken those words of prayer over him so many times it was etched on his heart.

He not only knew I was praying that prayer over him, but he believed God would answer.

God is Master at multiplication.

He multiplied the food for the 5,000 people that He fed with two fish and five loaves of bread in Matthew 14:14-21.

He multiplied the wisdom of Solomon when Solomon prayed for more wisdom. 1 Kings 3:1-15

God told Adam and Eve to “be fruitful and multiply…” Genesis 1:28

Abraham was told by God, “And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” Genesis 17:2

Y’all!! Do you see what God wants to do in our lives??

These are not just stories to make us nod our heads and say, “Wow, that’s cool.”

These are for us to KNOW and to BELIEVE and to PRAY. He wants to multiply our efforts, our time, our resources….

Since the beginning of time, this has been the plan.

Yet, so often, we don’t believe it. So, we don’t even pray it. We just settle for this mediocre and idle faith that never produces fruit in our lives or the lives of others.

Let’s not settle anymore.

Let’s pray that God would triple and multiply our efforts in all we do.

In motherhood, in our marriages, in our work, in our relationships, in our time, in our health, in our finances, in our ministry….

HE WILL.

We have not, because we ask not. James 4:2

I believe that God tripled my sons efforts that day….because we asked Him to.

However, we also believed He would. And moreso, Joseph believed He would.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1

If you are lacking in faith today, lacking in effort, lacking in belief…

I am asking you, friend to friend…Pray for God to restore your effort and not just restore it but triple your efforts and MULTIPLY them exceedingly.

Keep asking, keep praying, and keep believing in faith.

We can trust Him with the tiniest of details and the largest of details.

He is head over all!

Listen, I am terrible at math. It was never ever my favorite subject.

Thankfully, our Father is a Math Major. He can multiply like NO OTHER. We don’t have to do the math, because HE is doing it for us.

Whew!

Oh, and by the way, Joseph did well on his test. That nine hours of sleep sure helped. ;)

not good at math, but i know Who is,
