Tuesday SHINE....

Today's Reading: Deuteronomy 4

Happy Tuesday, SHINE girls!

So, we landed right back into the time of Moses, didn't we? Literally, we dived right back in.

Here's what  jumped right out and hit me square in my make-up wearing face yesterday: Moses' prayer to the Lord.

Oh, how I could relate to that desperate, heart-wrenching prayer that Moses offered up to God.

In Verses 24-25, Moses pleads with the Lord to let him cross the Jordan River into the Promised Land. If you remember in our reading, God had forbidden Moses to go to the Promise Land because Moses had disobeyed him.

Let's get a grasp on this real quick. Moses led those complaining, whining, ungrateful Israelites for FORTY years. Forty years, leading them to the Promise Land.

Moses was so obedient, so devoted, and so loyal to God during this time.

Except for that one instance when he disobeyed God.

His punishment was that he would not be allowed to go to the Promise Land. Joshua, would now be the one to lead the people into this new land of milk and honey.

So, back to our reading from yesterday. Moses pleaded with the Lord to let him cross the Jordan river into the Promise Land.

God stuck to His Word, and told him no. Not just "no", but God said: "Do not even speak to me about this matter again."

My emotional female heart aches for Moses. It does not seem fair.

Oh, but it is.

Here's why this is so good. So so good.

God cannot lie. He just cannot.

He never goes back on His Word.

Yes, that can be a very sobering thought.

Oh, but here's the flip side....we can believe Him. Every single word.

Yes, every single Promise He's given us in His Word. He will fulfill. Every singe promise.

Let's look at this on a smaller, more Earthly scale. When we discipline our children, we must stick to what we say, right? What happens if we don't?

Our children won't believe us. They will never do the "right" thing because they will know that the consequences are hollow.

A promise is only as good as the One making the Promise. In this case, it's God.

Whew. I just got chills.

Even though Moses had done so much, he still had to suffer the consequence of his sin.

The same goes for us, friends. No matter who we are in this world....we are all His Kingdom daughters. We are all the apple of His glorious eye.

He holds us all to the same standards of obedience.

He's a fair and just God. We know this, and yet we still test Him at times, don't we?

We think we can get away with a small act of disobedience. He will understand. We've done so much for His Kingdom! Surely, He will overlook this small offense.

Oh, that's where we are wrong.

Girls, the Promises stand true. For better or for worse.

His Word remains. Unshakable and Unmovable.

Praise Him for this.

"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments."
