Thursday SHINE......
Today's Reading: 1 Corinthians 7
Happy Serve Day Thursday, SHINE girls! Let's serve someone today! On purpose, let's go out of our way and give of ourselves in service to someone else. A simple act of kindness can bring such JOY to someones day.
I have a friend. She sends me packages in the mail almost monthly. The packages are filled with goodies for my children. She is a super crafty girl and sews my little Presley the MOST adorable little clothes, place mats, book covers, pillow cases, etc. When we receive these packages in the mail, the children and I both get super excited!
I cry every single time she sends a package. It is just so unexpected and completely out of the blue. It overwhelms my heart at the time and care that she takes to send us these beautiful things.
The incredible thing about receiving these gifts is that it makes me want to bless someone! It does! My heart is so moved that I want to bless someone so that they can feel the same warmth and love that I am feeling from being blessed.
Maybe it has been a while since you have felt loved on or blessed. Friend, I encourage you today to step out and be the blessing to someone today. It doesn't have to cost a penny. It could just be your time. It could be your ears to listen to someone who just needs a friend. It could be a note left on someones car encouraging them (these are my favorite!).
Ask the Lord to point you in the right direction. He will.
Sometimes when we need a blessing, the Lord is just waiting on us to step out and be a blessing.
There was a time when I really needed some good, godly friendships. I felt alone. I felt like I would never have friendships of quality. Friends that would be there through thick and thin.
I remember Lem telling me this one day: "Jill, in order to have good friends, you need to be a good friend."
From that moment on, I started praying for the Lord to show me the friends that He wanted me to pursue. Friends that He hand picked for my life. Guess what? He did!
I started to reach out and be a friend, instead of sitting back and waiting for people to pursue me. All it took was for me to step out of my comfy little boat and get into the water where everyone was playing! :)
Suddenly, the Lord started blessing me with the most incredible friendships. Friendships that have depth and quality. The forever kind of friends!
To top it off, the Lord has given me all of you SHINE girls as friends! It just makes me hit my knees with awe because 10 years ago, I felt so alone and so desperate for good friends. Through SHINE, He has blessed me with friends who not only LOVE Jesus, but LIVE Jesus! WOW! (still in awe!)
Thank you for being my friend. I mean that with all sincerity. You bless me more than you will ever possible know.
Don't You just LOVE when the Lord shows off? He truly sweeps us off our feet when we surrender to Him, doesn't He?
