Meet me on the back porch…

Happy Spring!

Don’t you just love this time of year?

It is my favorite, besides Summer of course.

The pollen is no fun, but I can get past that as long as I see that big sun in the sky warming up the Earth!

As I sat on my back porch, table covered with pollen, I looked up at the sky.

I inhaled a big breath and slowly exhaled.

Birds were singing, squirrels playing, all of God’s Creation just doing their thing.

Smiling, I whispered to Jesus, “I have finally found my thing, my purpose.”

After many years of asking God…”ok, what is my purpose here, Lord?”

I think I have found the answer. It was here all along. Since the beginning.

Prayer.

I was made to pray.

Nothing brings me greater joy than praying.

It does something inside of me that is inexpressible.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Every day, I cannot wait to sit on my porch and pray.

I know, it sounds kinda silly and boring, but it is the most FUN thing I do each day!

A small little blue notebook, my Bible, and favorite ink pen. All of these things are my lifeline to prayer.

That little notebook contains all the people, all the things, all the prayer requests.

I almost feel as if it is my “job” to pray!

Years ago, when I began this prayer journey, I found it hard to pray. It was difficult for me to remain focused. It felt so….pointless.

OH goodness, how that has changed.

God began showing me His work and HIs answers to all of those prayers and I was just left in awe! Mouth gaping awe!

Some of those prayers so personal and so intimate…there is just no way those answers were a coincidence.

Other prayers so audacious and HUGE, there is no way they were not from God.

Jesus teaches us to pray in God’s Word. Constantly, Jesus was going somewhere by Himself to pray. He knew He needed to pray, it was fuel to His body.

It is the same for us.

Prayer is spiritual fuel.

When our fuel is low, we become weak in faith…weak in everything

When our fuel is high, we overflow with JOY, GRATITUDE, AND FAITH!

It is a principle that boggles my mind, but it is just a fact.

So often I think of Paul and Silas in that prison cell.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.  Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. Acts 16:25-26

Whoa!! Something HUGE happens in the spiritual world when we pray!

Chains break! Doors fly open! Miracles happen!

Do you feel as if something is missing in your life?

I have been there, sweet friend.

Make it a habit to pray. Every single day.

You will never regret it.

God always hears our prayers.

God always remembers our prayers.

Write them down so you can see and look back one day when He answers.

Let’s heed these words from Paul…

“Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
