Wednesday SHINE.....

Today's Reading: Mark 4:35-5:20

Happy Worship Wednesday sweet SHINE girls!

Isn't it funny how our memory scripture for the week always seem to apply at some point in your week? It never ceases to amaze me at how God does this! :)

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."

Just this very week, I had the opportunity to decide to be a peace maker, or not to be.

This can get tricky, girls.

Sometimes we think we set out to make peace in a certain situation, and many times it ends up bringing anything but peace.

We have to make sure that our peace-meter is set on Truth. And His Word.

This is when all of those seeds that we have been planting from being in His Word come into play.

Peace is not for the weak.

Peace is for the strong in Christ.

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
 Romans 5:13

It takes a whole lot of Holy Spirit power to bring peace in a situation.

Many times, it is at the cost of our flailing emotions and unpredictable feelings.

Fighting our flesh to receive the ultimate gift---PEACE.

"Consider the blameless, observe the upright;
there is a future for the man of peace."
 Psalm 37:37

Often times, I just talk to the Lord very frankly about a certain situation. It goes something like this:

"Lord, I need you to bring me peace in this. I need to abide in You, and trust You above all of these circumstances. I will keep my big mouth shut, even though my flesh is screaming in agony at the injustice. HELP!"

When I truly give the situation to Him, is when He truly begins to work. Not just work in the situation, but He works on my "fleshy" heart.

Every single time, I end up growing. I end up seeing things through His eyes, because I chose to give it to Him. Less of me, more of Him.

The verse that He always shows me when I get in these sticky "lacking peace" situations is:

"Make it your goal to live a quiet life,
minding your own business and working with your hands,
just as we instructed you before."
 1 Thessalonians 4:11

God showed me this verse a year and a half ago during one of the biggest stormy seasons of my life.

I could not for the life of me understand what He meant by showing me this--over and over.

What did this have to do with this storm that I was in??

Suddenly, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

I had stirred the eye of the storm, and it was getting bigger by the minute. Instead of trusting Him in the storm, I tried my best to fix it from my highly incapable hands. Big mistake. Huge.

He was telling me to be quiet, be still, and go about my business. He had this in His Big Capable Hands.

Trust Him, Jill. Trust Him.

Peace flows like a river when we trust Him.

Peace comes when we are still.

We can only be true peacemakers, when we have True Peace residing in us.

seeking stillness,

jill
