Oh How He loves us…
Many years ago, I was walking with my friend, Vicky.
Vicky was one of the biggest prayer warriors I had ever known. Every time we walked, we would pray the whole entire time!
This was all kind of new to me at this point in my life.
I was fascinated that this woman seemed to pray every moment of every day!
One day as we were walking, a big red bird flew right in front of us.
Vicky stopped and gasped.
She told me that red birds represented Jesus and that He was blowing us a kiss.
Huh?
I had never in my thirty something years of life heard such a thing.
Tears streamed down her cheeks and she looked at me and said, “He loves us so much, Jill.”
Ever since that day, I look for red birds. I seek them out.
Red birds are one of the prettiest birds in God’s creation, in my opinion.
They seem to always flutter around us at the exact time we need to know we are loved.
There are seasons of life that feel like we are alone, unloved, forgotten.
Whether we are surrounded by people, or whether we are alone with our four walls…loneliness seeps in at times.
There are times we do not feel understood.
There are times when we do not feel justice has been done.
There are times we feel abandoned.
There are times we feel like the world is against us….and it feels like God is as well.
There are times when joy seems like a long distant memory and we wonder if we will ever experience it again.
There are times when we realize that we aren’t as needed as we used to be.
There are times we feel like we are getting older and we just are not relevant to anyone anymore.
These are the times when I look for red birds.
I ask Jesus to show me Himself.
“Lord, reveal Yourself to me. I need you so much right now. Show me something from You. Speak in some way. Whisper Your love to me.”
Every time, I end up going back to a psalm in His Word.
If you have not read it, or if you have read it a million times…read it again today.
Let His love wash over your deepest hurts, regrets, sorrows, and losses.
“He is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18.
We cannot escape His love. We just cannot.
We may try.
We may run and try to abandon Him…but we won’t get far.
His love will pull us back in.
He will leave the 99 to find the one…to find YOU.
Look for red birds today.
He speaks through His Creation over and over.
He is constantly leaving us love notes everywhere we go.
Often, we are not looking for them so we miss them.
Stop and look for Him.
He will be found.
looking for more red birds,
jill
