Details, Details, Details…
The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple. Psalm 19:7
She came to me with tears running down her face. I told her to sit down on my bed and tell me what was wrong.
Hesitantly, she spilled her heart out to me. Desperately trying to mend the pieces of her little heart back together, I told her how much I loved her and that it would be okay.
Inept, unequipped, and completely out of words, I just sat with her, held her close, and let her cry.
The next day when she was at school, I was praying for her on my back porch. You can often find me there in the middle of the day. Usually when I just need a big breath of God’s Creation and to look up at an enormous sky as a reminder that IT WILL ALL BE OKAY.
Honestly, I did not know what or how to pray for my daughter. I wasn’t sure I had words.
Slowly, I opened my Bible just to see what God’s Word had to say.
It opened to the exact scripture, with almost identical wording to the expressions of my girls heart the night before.
I could not believe it.
When she got home from school I sat her down and told her what God showed me in His Word. She stared in awe.
Three times she made me read it to her. She wanted and needed to absorb it, to let it saturate her little heart.
As a mother, I believe there is a special connection with God as we pray over our children.
When I pray over them, I feel this closeness that I am sure is always there but seems even more tangible during these times.
He is so very specific, especially when we are specific in our prayers.
If you are like me, it is easy to think that certain things seem too small to pray about. The details, we imagine, must overwhelm Him or bore Him one.
What I am seeing, is that God loves details! He is in ALL OF THE DETAILS.
How could He not be? Just look at the world around you. He made all of it.
The next time you go to Him in prayer, be specific. Keep asking.
When He answers so specifically, it is very hard to deny that it was Him.
Our kids are important to Him! He loves them more than we do! Let’s let all of their little heartaches be mended by Him.
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
