Anchors Away.....

August Reading: The Book of Jonah
August Memory Verse: Psalm  84:1-2
Prayer Requests go here.
New to SHINE? Go here.

"one God and Father of all, who is over everything, through everything, and in everything." Ephesians 4:6

When you are in a relationship with the Lord, as time goes by  you start to recognize His Voice more and more.

Sometimes, it's not His actual Voice, but other things. Things that you will see over and over and over. Occurrences that you just cannot chalk up to coincidence.

There is no such thing as coincidence. It is all God-incidence.

For example, I have been seeing anchors everywhere I go. Everywhere.

Random places. Cracker Barrel for heaven's sake. Who sees anchors at Cracker Barrel??

Uh, I do apparently.

Not only have I been seeing anchors, I have been noticing them in scripture.

I have been hearing the word "anchor" in songs. Over and over.

This is when you know God is speaking. Not audibly, but oh, He is speaking loudly.

As I prayed for what to study this month, I kept coming back to the same book of the Bible.

God showed me about 3 weeks ago this book, and I kind of prayed for another book to study to be honest.

Jonah is only 4 chapters long. Four.

How can I get a month of SHINE posts out of 4 scriptures?

Uh, I still don't know this, but I will trust Him to lead us!

Finally, as I prayed once more yesterday for Him to make it clear that this was the book, I noticed a verse from our Psalm reading yesterday.

It sounded familiar. I had read it before in another book of the Bible.

The verse is: "I hate those who cling to worthless idols; as for me, I will trust in the Lord." Psalm 31:6

Guess where I found the strikingly similar verse?

"Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God's love for them." Jonah 2:8

Yep, Jonah. God-incidence. Again.

So, off to Jonah we go.

We will read it. We will study it. We will dig deep in this book.

He is wanting to teach us from this book, so we will listen for Him.

If you haven't already noticed, the book of Jonah talks about an anchor. The book of Jonah takes place in the ocean.

Hello, we are listening God.

sailing anyone,

jill
