Tuesday SHINE.....

Today's Reading: Numbers 6:22-7:89

Hello, SHINE girls! How's the reading going? I know it's a little hard to follow, but stick with it. Every word we read from His Word goes down to the deepest parts of our souls. It plants a seed and will harvest a plentiful garden. Every.single.word.

My favorite verse from our reading in Numbers so far comes today. Verse 6:22.

"The Lord bless you and keep you, The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face towards you and give you peace." Numbers 6:22

Wow!

This is how the Lord told Moses and Aaron to greet the Israelites. The Lord then says, in the very next verse: "so they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them."

Who wouldn't want to be blessed in this way every day of their lives? Maybe we should make it a habit to greet each other in this way. Seriously! I will take all that goodness! How about you?

Moses was one of the greatest men in the bible. He is fascinating! He was so stinkin' faithful! I mean, God loved, loved, loved this dude.

God spoke the 10 commandments to Moses on Mt. Sinai.

God led Moses to free the Israelites and  parted the red sea for Moses and his people.

God spoke to Moses face to face as one speaks to a friend. {Exodus 33:11}{Deuteronomy 34:10}

Moses wrote 5 books of the Bible. Including Psalm 90.

Not since our King David,  have I been so enthralled with a biblical fellow. {besides, Jesus, of course!}

So, why am I going on and on and on about Moses?

Because, he is one of the very few in the Bible that God describes as meek.

"Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth."
 Numbers 12:3

Girls, it is no coincidence that we are in the book of Numbers this very day. This very week. Memorizing a verse on being meek, and studying the life of Moses. I mean, is God up to something or what??

Could this meekness be the reason God chose Moses out of all the other people He could have chosen?

I think so!

God needed a guy that wasn't caught up with himself or his pride. He needed a guy totally surrendered to do His will. He needed a guy that wouldn't be afraid to go against the grain and the approval of those around him. He needed a guy that knew that the only reason he could do anything was because of God enabling him to do so.

Y'all, I don't know about you, but I am inspired! If meekness means THIS much to the Lord--then I want it. I need it.

Desperately.

I have tears in my eyes just thinking of the many things keeping us from complete and total meekness. These things oppose a meek heart, and therefore they need to be severed from our hearts. Completely.

Pride.
Unforgiveness.
Lust.
Greed.
Approval addiction.
Addictions of any kind. {they show our lack of dependence on HIM}
A sharp tongue.
A lying tongue.
Prejudice.
Arrogance.
Selfishness.
Merciless.
Gossip.
Judging.
Always being on the defense--touchy.

When we have these hanging onto us, even in the smallest amounts, we suffocate the meek right out of us.

Oh, friends! He's longing for us to get this. He's beckoning us to walk in meekness today. And everyday.

Imagine the fruit that will come from a heart truly surrendered to Him in meekness? Like Moses was.

 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
Galations 5:22-26

meek is not for the weak,

jill
