Tuesday SHINE....

Today's Reading: Hebrews 12:1-17

Happy Tuesday, SHINE girls!

As I was reviewing our Memory Verse from this week, something struck me.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted". Matthew 5:4

"Mourning" can be applied to many different areas of our lives.

I think we seem to view "mourning" as grieving a death of a loved one. Which can very well be one of the deepest and darkest times of mourning in our lives.

However, the Lord enlightened me on other ways we mourn. Oh, and they are biggies.

At least, they can be.

In my life, I have mourned the loss of friendships. Oh, this one cuts deep. We were made for fellowship, and when we suffer the loss of a friend {for whatever reason}, it hurts. Badly.

I have mourned the loss of family members. Not just through death, but through their choice to leave or to make decisions that harm themselves and/or others.

I have mourned the loss of time. It is painstaking for me to look at my children's little baby albums, because I mourn for those days of "in the beginning" with them.

I have mourned the loss of my very own youth. Being younger, being carefree, and let's be honest--being less aged. :)

I have mourned the loss of time that I wasted, and will never be able to get back.

I have mourned the loss of words that I wish I had never said. As well as words that I wish I would have said.

Are you following me?

Here's the good news though: He says He will comfort us. Every single time.

We know that things change, people change, we all do. It's human to mourn the loss of what was familiar and comfortable once it is gone. However, we also know that we serve a God that never changes.

Listen closely...

He is always the same. Consistent as the day is long.

The irony of His never-changing, and our ever-changing is profound to me.

Think about it. We are daily changing, aging, growing. It's how this life on Earth is designed.

Now, think about our Father. He never changes. Ever.

As I am typing this post, a song is playing in my head, over and over. I cannot hear it without crying tears of joy. Read the words to the song below and be encouraged today. No matter what season of mourning you are in, His love never changes.

Ahh!

embracing His never-failing love,

Your Love Never Fails
by: Jesus Culture

Nothing can separate
Even if I ran away
Your love never fails

I know I still make mistakes
But You have new mercies for me everyday
Your love never fails

You stay the same through the ages
Your love never changes
There may be pain in the night but joy comes in the morning

And when the oceans rage
I don't have to be afraid
Because I know that You love me
Your love never fails

The wind is strong and the water's deep
But I'm not alone here in these open seas
Cause Your love never fails

The chasm is far too wide
I never thought I'd reach the other side
But Your love never fails

You make all things work together for my good
