Wednesday SHINE.....

Today's Reading:  1 Corinthians 1

Happy Worship Wednesday, SHINE girls! Turn up the praise music and worship your Man today! Oh, how He loves to see us praising His name!

We are starting a new chapter in the Word today! Yippee! Hold on tight, girls, this book of the Bible is GOOD!

Grab your coffee, sit back, kick up your feet, and enjoy a little SHINE from our very own SHINE girl, Lisa Inlow.

Be blessed sweet SHINE sisters.

Psalm 119
by: Lisa Inlow

Throughout Psalms 119, every verse, or at least every other verse, the author is proclaiming his need for God's Word.

But he uses many different adjectives referring to the Word:  law, statutes, precepts, decrees, commands, these are the main words used.

Psalms 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible and again, the author seems to be going on, about the same thing, his need for God's Word.

He is on to something.  He is driving home a point.

School is in full swing, so are ball practices, small groups, packing lunches, carpool, bus stops, washing uniforms, homework.  Shew, is it Christmas break yet?!

Y'all know where I'm going with this.

Our need to spend time with the Lord, daily.

We have to plan ahead, or at least I do.  We all get up early in our house, and if I don't get up a few minutes before my kids, it will be the next morning before I know it...then the next morning, then the next morning...

I used to really beat myself up and think that the Lord was mad at me, or had turned His back on me because I struggled (struggle) with consistent daily Bible reading.  But you know what that did?  Just kept me further from Him because I carried unnecessary guilt.

But we don't serve a God like that.  Nope, He just wants to spend time with us.  He wants us to sit down with our coffee, open up His Word and read so He can show us more of who He is.  So we can truly learn about and walk in His love for us.

So has it been a while for you?  That's okay friend.  Start this morning.  Don't know what to read?  Follow along with the SHINE passage that Jill post each morning.  Are you behind, no problem, just start reading.  Your heavenly Father is not keeping score or tabs.  He is a safe place.

Or try the book of John, Ephesians, Philippians, James.  Or read some Proverbs, or how about Psalms 119.

To bring it even further down to real life, I strive to get my coffee all prepared at night before I get to bed so all I have to do is push "on".  I also do a few other things in the evening to make my mornings a bit smoother which also allows me those few extra minutes to spend with the Lord.

Heck, I've even had my Bible open on the counter while I'm making lunches and the kids are at the table eating breakfast, and I read out-loud.  I believe with all that I am that the Father can speak through 1, 3 or 5 verses on a rushed Wednesday morning.  Don't you?

Let's commit to spending time with the Lord, today.  Don't worry about if you will do it next week...or tomorrow.

Just start today.

Our Savior loves spending time with us.  Yes ma'am, flawed, emotional, inconsistent...us...His girls.

Oh Lord we praise Your name this morning.  We love you so much.  Thank you for not keeping a checklist.  Thank you for welcoming us into your presence, every time.  We love you Father.  And we are so thankful that you love us.  Amen.
