Thursday SHINE....

Today's Reading: Acts 2

Happy Serve Day Thursday! Who can you serve today? Pray about it, and go and serve with those little hands and feet of yours! Jesus lived His life serving others. Let's follow His example, girls!

Acts 2 brings Peter back into our lives. Oh, how I love this man! Remember, we learned how passionate Peter was and how he loved Jesus so much? So much, that he denied Jesus 3 times...in a row?!

Yes! That's our Peter! Completely flesh and human. Very, very real.

We can relate to real, right?

Chapter 2 explains the Holy Spirit pouring into the disciples and the awesome experience of them speaking many different languages because of this new Power bestowed upon them. The Holy Spirit Power!

Those around them thought that they had gone crazy! They actually accused them of being drunk!

My favorite part happens next: Peter Speaks Up.

Peter boldly stands up among the crowd and explains the reason they are speaking these languages and that God is fulfilling the prophecies of the Old Testament right before their very eyes.

"In the Last Days," God says,
"I will pour out my Spirit
      on every kind of people:
   Your sons will prophesy,
      also your daughters;
Your young men will see visions,
      your old men dream dreams.
   When the time comes,
      I'll pour out my Spirit
On those who serve me, men and women both,
      and they'll prophesy.
I'll set wonders in the sky above
and signs on the earth below,
Blood and fire and billowing smoke,
the sun turning black and the moon blood-red,
Before the Day of the Lord arrives,
      the Day tremendous and marvelous;
And whoever calls out for help
to me, God, will be saved."
Acts 2:14-21

Not only is Peter bold enough to be the one that stands up to explain what's happening, but he is quoting the Word of God and beckoning those listening to be saved along with them.

Oh, what a sight that must have been! I hope Heaven has a HUGE movie screen that plays this part of history over and over again so that I can see it in visual form. A big bowl of buttery popcorn, a Coke with crunchy ice, and sitting next to Jesus watching the disciples receive the Holy Spirit on a big screen....now that's Heaven.

Girls, are we bold like Peter?

What are we keeping our mouths shut about that needs to be spoken?

Are we sitting by waiting for someone else to have the boldness to speak Truth? Is there something happening that needs to be brought to the Light?

What are we waiting for?

If not us, then who??

We have the same Power that Peter does, girls! Holy Spirit Power!

Through the Power of the Holy Spirit, we can do all things!

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Phil. 4:13

I challenge you today to be bold in your faith. Stand up for Truth. Don't sit by and let Satan deceive those around you. Speak Truth and Life. Boldly.

Point others to Truth, girls. God will take care of the rest.

speaking up,

jill
