Thursday SHINE.....

Today's Reading: Job 36

Good morning, sweet SHINE girls!

I have another "be intentional" challenge for you today! Surprised?

Good!

Okay, we already have Worship Wednesday, and Fun Friday. Guess what our Thursdays will now be? Anyone, anyone?

Serve-day Thursday!

Are you smiling?

When I told my kids yesterday that we have officially given Thursday a new name, my Joseph looked at me and said:" Do we have to have a tradition for every day of the year, Mom?"

Just before my heart was broken into a million tiny pieces by his 10 year old little comment, I heard the Lord say this: "Tell him, this is how you stay intentional. You have a purpose for each day."

I told my Joseph just that. He then smiled back and said, "Yeah, okay. That makes sense."

Thank you, Lord, for saving my day (and my hurt heart!) with your wise words! :-)

So, today your challenge is this:

Go serve. Serve at work, in your home, at a friends house, at wal-mart for heavens sake....we can serve anywhere!

One small act of service can reap much JOY to those around you! It just takes a few minutes out of our days. It doesn't have to be a HUGE thing, it can just be as simple as offering to re-fill the coffee of your friend or co-worker. Or re-fill your husbands tea glass before he gets up to do it.

We can also serve our children. What better way to teach them about serving, than to serve them? Intentionally!

Maybe you can just help someone to the car with their groceries, or carry their cart back to the store for them. There are MILLIONS of ways that we can serve each other. Pray and ask the Lord to show you some ways you can serve today.

If you have children, let them serve with you! Tell them that today is serve-day, and you will all serve others today! It will be fun for the whole family to talk about how they served others at the end of the day.

When we serve others, we are the hands and feet of Jesus! Wow!!

Sometimes we can get exasperated and overwhelmed thinking that there is NO way that we can make a difference. That is simply NOT true! YOU can make a difference when you serve others in any way!

So, go out and serve! What better way to show Christ's love than to serve HIS sheep!

Happy Serve-Day Thursday!

Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
serve, SHINE, serve,

Before you go, please read this story. It is one of my favorites and it inspires me every single time I read it! It goes along perfectly with serving others. YOU are making a difference! No matter how small it seems...God will use your act of service to change the world! Be intentional in your serving.

While walking along a beach, an elderly gentleman saw someone in the distance leaning down, picking something up and throwing it into the ocean.

As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, picking up starfish one by one and tossing each one gently back into the water.

He came closer still and called out, “Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?”

The young man paused, looked up, and replied “Throwing starfish into the ocean.”

The old man smiled, and said, “I must ask, then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?”

To this, the young man replied, “The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in, they’ll die.”

Upon hearing this, the elderly observer commented, “But, young man, do you not realise that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can’t possibly make a difference!”

The young man listened politely. Then he bent down, picked up another starfish, threw it into the back into the ocean past the breaking waves and said, “It made a difference for that one.”
